Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express is directed by Rohit Shetty, famous Bollywood director known for his highest grossing film at the domestic box office like Golmaal series, Bol Bachchan and Singham. The film was produced by Ronnie Screwala, Gauri Khan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor under Red Chillies Entertainment banner.
The film was released in 2550 cinemas in 3550 screens in India and 700 screens internationally making it the widest Bollywood release of all time.
The movie was made with a huge budget of 75 crore rupees, half of which was collected on the very first day of its release and gained the position of highest opener and highest single day collection on box office with 33.12 crores. The film also own the record of the movie with highest first week collection of 156 crore rupees. Chennai Express broke all the previous records and became the all time highest grossing Bollywood movie worlwide with a whooping collection of over 400 crore rupees worldwide and attained the status of “All Time Blockbuster” on Indian Box Office. The movie is the highest grosser of 2013 till now and have a lot of competitors to face this year. Chennai Express is also the highest grossing bollywood film in India with a collection of over 226 crore rupees at Indian box office. Chennai Express set a new record in overseas with opening weekend record of 50 crore rupees. Chennai Express also held many other records as the highest weekend grosser and highest second day collection at box office.
